War Remnants Museum Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City: War Remnants. This place is all about the Old Saigon's downtown District 1 and gives a glimpse into the former capital's wartime past through the atmospheric stroll in War Remnant Museum.
Walk north up Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street to Vo Van Tan Street and turn left to fins at No. 28 the War Remnants Museum. (Bao Tang Chung Tich Chien Tranh; 28 Vo Van Tan Street; tel: 08-3930 2112; daily 7.30AM-noon, 1:30- 5PM; charge), set in the former headquarters of the US Information Services. You need a strong stomach as the museum comes to grips with the nastier aspects of Vietnam's recent history, such as human embryos in jars & pictures of deformed children, depicting the effectiveness of the defoliant Agent Orange, gory photographs of war mutilations and a guillotine used for decapitating agitators of the 1920s riot.
One of the exhibition halls, entitled REQUIEM, holds works of photographers from many countries who died in war conflicts in Indochina. Outside in the forecourt, there is an impressive array of military hardware, including tanks, a helicopter and a fighter jet. Although, a visit here is likely to be distressing, it is a sobering reminder of the heavy toll of war.

Cu Chi Tunnel Vietnam
The tunnels of Cu Chi was the holy revolutionary base of Military Region Committee Saigon-Gia Dinh Command of Cu Chi District Party Committee and all Cu Chi People, where was also a versatile battle formation to front enemy and to contribute significantly to task of enemy fighting and national unity.
Located about 70 km (44 miles) to the northwest of HCMC, the Cu Chi tunnels are one of Vietnam's proudest patriotic shrines and achievements during the Vietnam War. From these hiding places, Viet Cong were able to spring devastating surprise attacks on their enemies. In fact, by the mid- 1960's, it is believed that over 200 km (124 miles) of tunnels laced the region around Cu Chi. The tunnels run up to 10m (33 ft) deep, each with a breadth of between 0.5 to 1m (11/2 to 3ft), and stacked up to three levels. The top tier could support the weight of a 50-tonne tank, with the middle layer, could withstand moderate mortar attacks. The lowest level will virtually impregnable. Located at the end of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, and straddling both Highway 1 and the Saigon River, the tunnels were of vital strategic importance.
In coming to Ho Chi Minh city, visit Cu Chi Underground Tunnel, to understand how was the long - during fight of hardship, to properly comprehended the profound aspiration: loving of peace, independent, happy and warm well-fed permanently.
